For these illustrations, I was inspired by three short stories about the creation of the world from Usborne’s ‘Illustrated Stories from the Greek Myths’. Lots of story books for children that are based on mythology are illustrated in a very similar way, so I wanted to do something more modern-looking. I focussed on shape by using collage to simplify the characters, highlighting their key characteristics. My final outcome was a triptych of five-layer screenprints, using a vibrant colour palette.
